A blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir rooted in Auxey-Duresses, Lafouge’s 2023 Coteaux Bourguignons shows how even the most modest appellation can shine under careful hands. Seventy-five-year-old vines on north-facing slopes yield a bright, supple red with lifted cherry and spice. Vinified without sulfur for the Gamay portion and entirely destemmed, the wine is crafted for pure, immediate pleasure while retaining the estate’s trademark precision. Just 2.800 bottles were produced.

Farming lutte raisonnée and harvesting entirely by hand, the family crafts whites and reds that rival better-known Meursault addresses while remaining refreshingly modest in price.
