Domaine Lafouge Auxey-Duresses Rouge 2023

Uniting six distinct lieux-dits across the Auxey valley, Lafouge’s Auxey-Duresses Rouge 2023 delivers village Burgundy with remarkable depth and poise. Old vines averaging sixty years concentrate red cherry, rosehip and subtle pepper over a limestone-marl foundation shaped by both south- and north-east exposures. A cold soak and slow indigenous fermentation bring silken tannins, while twelve months in barrels (20 % new) followed by a short rest in tank respect the fruit’s purity. With 14.500 bottles drawn, this remains a quietly compelling collector buy.

The Domaine
Domaine Lafouge has quietly stewarded Auxey-Duresses vineyards since 1650, yet under sixth-generation vigneron Maxime Lafouge the cellar now punches far above its weight. Farming lutte raisonnée and harvesting entirely by hand, the family crafts whites and reds that rival better-known Meursault addresses while remaining refreshingly modest in price. Rarité is proud to serve as the estate’s Danish partner, offering allocations that vanish quickly among in-the-know Burgundy collectors.
