Domaine Lafouge Meursault Clos de Rougeot Monopole 2023
Clos de Rougeot is Lafouge’s crown jewel: a walled hectare of east-facing vines at 280 m where red soils strewn with stones deliver both breadth and tension. In 2023, the forty-year-old Chardonnay produced a wine of candied citrus, grilled hazelnut and pulverised stone, combining monumental volume with blade-like precision. Fermentation and malolactic in barrel, followed by one year in oak (20 % new) and six months in tank, give shape without weight. Just 5.600 bottles were produced.

The Domaine
Domaine Lafouge has quietly stewarded Auxey-Duresses and neighbouring vineyards since 1650, yet under sixth-generation vigneron Maxime Lafouge the cellar now punches far above its weight. Farming lutte raisonnée and harvesting entirely by hand, the family crafts whites and reds that rival better-known Meursault addresses while remaining refreshingly modest in price. Rarité is proud to serve as the estate’s Danish partner, offering allocations that vanish quickly among in-the-know Burgundy collectors.
