Domaine Lafouge Meursault Les Meix-Chavaux 2023
Few village parcels in Meursault rival Les Meix-Chavaux for pedigree, and Lafouge’s 2023 bottling fires on all cylinders. Ninety-five-year-old Chardonnay vines rooted in slightly richer soils at 260 m on a north-east-facing slope give a layered core of Meyer lemon and salted butter, carried by a mineral chassis that surges across the palate. One year in 20 % new oak followed by six months in tank shapes the breadth without muting its crystalline drive. Only 2.500 bottles were produced.

The Domaine
Domaine Lafouge has quietly stewarded Auxey-Duresses and neighbouring vineyards since 1650, yet under sixth-generation vigneron Maxime Lafouge the cellar now punches far above its weight. Farming lutte raisonnée and harvesting entirely by hand, the family crafts whites and reds that rival better-known Meursault addresses while remaining refreshingly modest in price. Rarité is proud to serve as the estate’s Danish partner, offering allocations that vanish quickly among in-the-know Burgundy collectors.
