Domaine Hervé Roumier Bourgogne Haute-Cotes de Beaune “La Poirelotte” 2021
La Poirelotte is Hervé Roumier’s hidden hilltop monopole, cradled high above the Côte de Beaune where cool currents whistle through limestone outcrops. In the cool 2021 season the old Pinot rows yielded a scant crop that marries wild cherry, rose petal and crushed chalk to mouth-watering tension. Twelve months in mostly seasoned barrels polished the wine’s silky grain without adding excess flesh, leaving a vibrant finish that hums with mineral energy. Only 5.800 bottles emerged - a micro-lot that will evaporate on release.

The Domaine
Cousin to the famed Georges Roumier lineage, Hervé Roumier founded his own four-hectare estate in 1997, marrying biodynamic discipline with a quiet, sensory winemaking approach. Parcels in Chambolle-Musigny and the Hautes-Côtes are pruned for tiny yields, giving perfumed wines that echo the family’s storied grace. Each cuvée is bottled unfiltered in homeopathic quantities, and long-standing private clients snap up allocations the instant they appear.
