From Ambonnay and Bouzy's chalky slopes, Benoît Marguet's Shaman 20 channels the tension of the 2020 harvest into a resonant Grand Cru Champagne with crystalline red-apple crunch and crushed-chalk resonance. A 62-38 Pinot-Chardonnay blend was fermented in seasoned pièces with native yeasts, then bottled on a biodynamic fruit day at lower pressure to accentuate silk. Twenty-two months sur lattes and zero dosage leave the finish humming with salinity and blood-orange zest. Marguet released just enough to tease, and allocations disappear instantly.

The Domaine
Based in Ambonnay since the late 19th century, Benoît Marguet farms just over eight hectares biodynamically, ploughing with horses and relying on phytotherapy instead of synthetic chemicals. In the gravity-flow cellar every base wine ferments in wood, with minimal sulfur and prolonged lees aging before zero-dosage disgorgement. The result is a collection of Champagnes that couple vivid terroir transparency with captivating energy, making each release a fiercely contested allocation for grower-Champagne devotees.
